I have gone into self-imposed seclusion for thirty days. This is my log of that experience, day by day. I could find precious little information about this sort of ritual even though it has been practiced for centuries. Most of what I could find was in Arabic and the term khalwat khana (literally, place of solitude) is even disputed among muslims because it has negative connotations (read: a prisoner’s solitary confinement). Hopefully I can provide others with some insight that I was unable to find. I entered my khana seeking enlightenment and guidance of a sort, you may judge for yourself whether I find either.

If you would like more details about how I prepared for this experience, you can read about it here.
